 About Me

Passionate Counselling Professional

Established, fully-certificated and professionally registered counsellor since 2014.

Its a good idea to know a bit about the counsellor your thinking of going to see. It can give you a

sense of whether you feel they're the right person for you.

So, heres a little about me.

My early professional career and experiences laid the foundations for my pathway into counselling. From working with the public I understood the importance of communication and how developing trust in a professional capacity is essential to a good working relationship, and a good working relationship is the cornerstone of any therapeutic intervention, and therapeutic means something that promotes healing and nurtures growth.

It also became clear to me how a simple conversation can lift and brighten someone's day, in essence talking together is therapeutic. This is were my interest for health and emotional wellbeing began.

I began to develop a keen interest in different types of therapies, undertaking weekend courses and workshops. Changing career in my 30's I  re-trained within the field of health and social care, working with vulnerable children, adults and schools to support and develop emotional and physical wellbeing.

Continuing my education over the next 10 years, along with my Counselling Diploma, I added certified qualifications to teach and practice Zen Yoga, Reiki, Emotional Well-being and Mindfulness.

Areas covered here include:

  • Anatomy & physiology - how our physical body works.

  • Energy based practices - the value of meditation and intuition.

  • Areas of neurology - how our emotional mind behaves on an biological level.

  • Lifestyles - changes that impact quality of life.

Understanding how our mind and body systems work together brings a library of knowledge that provides strategies, skills to help reduce factors that cause emotional stress and develops awareness of how to your emotional health and wellbeing is directly linked to our mental health.

It can mean a few simple changes can dramatically reduce daily symptoms of;

  • Anxiety

  • Embodied anxiety, tense muscles, body awareness.

  • Headaches

  • Stomach and digestion problems

  • Concentration

  • Exhaustion

  • Sleep problems

  • Motivation

  • Libido

  • Overthinking

As a Counsellor and therapist having an understanding of how our bodies and minds live and store our emotions, enables me to empower you to take control of physical and mental symptoms that emotional distress brings, and in turn free up emotional space and mental capacity that will help you deal with what is happening for you in your everyday life.

Support That Makes a Difference

Person Centred Approach

The belief that we all have a natural instinct which moves us towards healing is one that the 'Person Centred Approach' to Counselling holds at its core. Its the same natural instinct that kicks in when we experience physical pain.

It suggests mental and emotional growth and healing needs three basic factors in the environment for this to happen.

These factors are:

  • non-judgmental space,

  • respect for your way of being in the world

  • an empathic understanding to see your world as you do.

Given these factors we will begin to heal.

A Person Centred Counsellor like myself will work to establish these factors and help you to unlock your own natural ability to take care of yourself and heal.
